In front of the frond
Saturday
All of western Switzerland will be covered by a mass of humid air bringing wind and rain.
All of it? No!
A small region sheltered behind high peaks will hold out against the cold front longer than elsewhere.
The Jura and the Pre-Alps will be very unsuitable for cross-country flying, but local flights will likely be possible, such as at the legendary Millet Cup, the hike-and-fly competition in Gruyère.
Valais—and primarily Fiesch—once again remains the best option for flying at least 50 km this Saturday. The expected cold frond will arrive later, and the thermal forecasts are generous for this time of year.
Sunday
For the first time of this weekly forecast, I can say that a day will be totally unflyable. Wind, cloud and rain will dominate. Time to think about your skiing material, or cooking some comfort food.
